About Diana Todd-Banks

Diana Todd-Banks is a three-time International Award-Winning Best-Selling Author, over 50s coach, and podcast host of Mature Preneurs Talk. Diana speaks and teaches from her vast array of experiences, and the many challenges life has presented her. She has gone from being a high-profile international businesswoman to overcoming major health setbacks. But, she persevered and went on to author and co-author ten books. Diana's latest book, "Mature Preneurs Talk: How to Have A Productive, Energised, Creative Life After 50," is about redefining and mastering the second phase of life.

Diana’s Philosophy

Diana Todd Banks loves to help people. She particularly loves helping the over 50s because they have the world at their feet (except they don't know it). They can do all kinds of things, and they have a lot of skills. But, people don't know it. They don't know how to pull together all of the skills they've gained over 50 years. Having someone like Diana to probe and find all of the skills, will enable an exploration of future possibilities. People, unfortunately, limit themselves by coming up with all sorts of reasons that they can’t accomplish the goals they set out for themselves. Some people use not having a lot of money as an excuse, and other people use fear.

Creative Living Tips

  • Don’t let fear be a barrier - act in spite of fear

An important first step in getting rid of fear as a barrier is to identify where the fear started, why it started, and what is the positive opposite of that fear. Being able to identify what is the positive opposite of that fear can be very enlightening.

It is also helpful to remember that everyone started somewhere. No one is born an expert at anything. You have to learn and do to get better at whatever you want to achieve. The only way to improve is by experiencing it and doing it.

  • Don’t listen to your inner critic

  • Take baby steps

  • Make mistakes

Dealing with Transitions

Acknowledge this phase of your life (good or bad) and accept the moment in time as the beginning of a new phase of your life. It's an opportunity to choose what you want to do.

During a transitional stage, Diana recommends that individuals who are newly getting settled in a particular area immediately join three to five clubs. Even though you might be a bit uncomfortable because you don't know many people – join a large group that interests you.

If you want to change your life, you need to make some changes and take action. What are you going to do with this precious time? Do something that you have always wanted to do. Diana always says, “Be a star in your own show.” Start a new chapter of your life.

Book & Podcast: Mature Preneurs Talk

Diana has just released her tenth book, which also happens to have the same title as her podcast, "Mature Preneurs Talk: How to Have A Productive, Energised, Creative Life After 50." The reason she chose the name is because she is sick of various sites putting older adults in a box right off the bat by using “boomers”, “seniors”, “over 50s”, “over 60s”, etc. People in midlife have come from a myriad of different backgrounds and a lot of people over 50 do not relate to the word “senior” or the word “retirement.” So, Diana set about coming up with a title (firstly for her podcast) that was highlighting the over 50s and all of the adventures her guests have found. “Mature Preneurs Talk” felt right.

In the book, Diana’s contributors each talk about what they did and how they went about finding their creative life and starting new ventures. Everyone has a lot of skills. And be sure not to listen to the naysayers. Diana also suggests working with a coach. You can identify new ways to find and create an enterprise that causes you to take action.
