Episode 109: Cultivating Hope with guest Kathryn Goetzke
About Kathryn Goetzke
Kathryn Goetzke is the author of 'The Biggest Little Book About Hope', podcast host of “The Hope Matrix”, and creator of the award-winning Hopeful Minds + Hopeful Cities. She is also the founder of iFred - an International Foundation for Research and Education on Depression. Kathryn presented at the UN on the power of hope to change many life outcomes and she was the first to operationalize hope and create a program to teach hope to improve well-being.
Kathryn started iFred in honor her late father, Jon Goetzke - a successful banker and engaged family man who died by suicide when she was a freshman in college. She has lived experience with PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, addiction and a previous suicide attempt. She believes that by tackling stigma she can reduce the treatment gap. Her company, The Mood Factory, launched the first nationwide “cause marketing campaign” for mental health (a tactic known to decrease stigma) and raised over $1 million for charities.
